CARING FOR YOUR POP-UP TENTS

Your car needs a service every few months, right? Same way, your pop up tents also require regular maintenance and upkeep. Given the right care, pop up tents last a long time, serving you well in organizing outdoor events.

HOW DO YOU TAKE CARE OF A POP UP TENTS?

Most people assume that a little dusting and brushing makes pop up tents good until next time. However, the tent fabric and frames are made up of special fabric that needs additional care. We collected some tips from our experts here at Extreme Canopy on how to care for your tent.

TENT CARE TIPS: FRAME

Keep all nuts and bolts that came along with your tent frame. They’re essential for its structural integrity. If you find something unlatched or unfastened, tighten it securely back into its place.

Before putting your tent frame away, ensure that it is completely clean and dry. Moisture left on the frame could accumulate mold or rust the legs.

Expert advice: Perform a thorough audit after every event, before packing your pop up tents. Identify any worn-out parts and replace them. You can do this yourself or contact our experts to do it for you.

TENT CARE TIPS: CANOPY

Make sure to remove all dirt and debris post the event from the roof of your pop up tents. Check for wear and tear, so that the canopy can be sent for repair or replacement.

Don’t forget the area around the doors, windows, and zipper seams. If you find something amiss, get it repaired on priority. Before folding the zipper, clean and lubricate the areas around the door and window zippers to keep away dust and rust.

And finally, clean the canopy roof thoroughly with a soft sponge, mild soap, and water. Dry it out completely before packing inside the carry bags.

CAN TENTS BE WASHED? WHAT DO YOU WASH A POP UP TENTS WITH?

Yes. In a manner of speaking. Of course, you cannot just throw the canopy along with your other laundry. However, if it is too dirty, you can use a mild stream of water and then clean off dirt and grime with a gentle soap.

Expert advice: Always store the frame and cover of your pop up tents inside their allocated carry bags. They’re custom built and can handle jerks, so that your tent frame and roof are safe and sound.

WHAT YOU SHOULDN’T DO?

  • Use harsh chemicals to clean your canopy fabric. They could damage your tent, change the color or mess up the print. You could end up with a burnt fabric as well.
  • Pack the tent while its still wet. Moisture laden tents have a higher chance of accumulating mold, algae, and fungi that can ruin your tent completely.
  • Expose the tent to prolonged periods of direct sunlight. This will reduce the life of the frame and canopy of your tent.
  • Rub the fabric with brush. Always use sponge, mild soap, and water. In case of stubborn stains, contact professionals.
  • Add excess weight on the truss bars. Heavy weights hanging on these bars might cause them to bend, compromising the structural integrity of your pop up tents. In worst cases, your frame might get damaged, leading the tent to collapse.
